Dark red kidney beans

Dark red kidney

Our red kidney beans' character is best expressed in numerous recipes that demonstrate their sweet flavour with hot and spicy notes.

The variety of red kidney bean selected by AMÍO is characterised by its vivid red colour. The flavour is sweet and pairs well with potatoes. Red kidney beans are ideal for delicious first courses, exquisite side dishes or flavourful main courses and are often combined with hot and spicy flavours.

Beans are a great alternative to animal protein, especially if combined with cereals. In addition to their attractive colour and delicious taste, they are a valuable source of protein, carbohydrates and mineral salts, as can be seen in the daily reference intake (RI%). Did you know that 70g of these beans provide approximately 30%* of your daily protein requirement?

Suggestions for use

We recommend soaking these beans for 12 hours. After soaking, rinse them in cold water before putting them in a pot with 500ml of water for every 100g of beans.

Allow around 70g per person: bring the water to a boil before covering and cooking on a low heat for 50-55 mins.

Once cooked, add salt for flavour and to prevent the beans from becoming hard and crunchy. If using a pressure cooker, the cooking time should be halved.
